My kids LOVE to eat chicken, like they ask for chicken nuggets almost every meal! Our favorite nuggets of course are Tyson Chicken Nuggets, and since they love them SO much we have to get creative on the delivery sometimes. You know, just to keep things fresh and fun! Actually while I was at Sam’s the other day I noticed how many people love Tyson’s nuggets too, they were almost out! But fret not, I snagged a bag or two for myself. Whew!
Now is when the fun part comes! I wanted to create a bright Springy piece of artwork for the kids to enjoy. I mean, I really needed the extra awesome mom points and this was sure to do the trick! Here is what I came up with:
One of the things that is really important to me as a parent, is to make sure the kids have a balanced diet. So I needed to make sure and incorporate some healthy foods in their meal. The more fun I made it, the better chance I had of them eating it! (You know your kids are the same way, right?)
What you’ll need:
*Bell peppers (any colors)
*Lettuce
*Shredded cheese
*French green beans
*salsa (the kids opted out of this, but I would put it on mine!)
*your choice in condiments (we did mayo, mustard, ketchup)
*decorative piping bottles
*display tray
Take your bell peppers and cut off the tops.
Clean out the inside of the core and seeds.
Then cut your decorative border. I thought it was easiest to do a zig zag.
Bake your Tyson nuggets as specified on the bag.
While they are baking, cover the tray in lettuce.
Next arrange your peppers on the tray.
Then stuff peppers with lettuce and cheese on top. (Here is where I’d add the salsa)
Once your nuggets are out of the oven, cool for a second then it’s decorating time!
I placed our condiments of choice in the piping bottles so I could design better. (cause I’m legit like that, ha!)
But what fun would it be if I was decorating all by myself?! Plus I wouldn’t be a cool mom either.
So of course I gave them some of their own nuggets and let them have at it!
Once you’ve decorated your chicken nuggets to your liking, it’s time to finish off your baskets!
Arrange your nuggets in the baskets, on the “grass”, and in your mouth if you’re like me. Oops!
Finally, bend a couple of green beans and stuff them in the bell peppers.
They are the perfect touch to finish of your Spring baskets!
But I couldn’t stop there?! The kids wanted me to use the nuggets they decorated to make something.
So I quickly came up with a plan.
I grabbed another tray, covered it in lettuce, and then cut up their chicken.
Once I added the cookie cutters to the tray, I then placed the cut up nuggets in the cookie cutters to fill the shapes.
Then I “painted” each shape a different color.
But you must add detail, right?! I mean it just makes the flowers!
Just add a few green beans as the stems and you’re done!
Yes, I realize a butterfly doesn’t have a stem, but Paisley insisted that was a butterfly flower. Okay.
Yes! Coolest mom in the world award!
They LOVED them!
What can be more fun then creating meals together?!
Lunch was a SUCCESS!!!
Do your kids have favorite foods that they want to eat all of the time too?!
What ways have you made your meals more exciting for your kids?

I love how you let the little ones get in there and get down and dirty with you. What a cute project. I know what we’re having for lunch tomorow!
…or tomorrow! 😉
Thanks! They had a BLAST and I did as well! What a FUN campaign!
Cute Kids alert!! I love this idea.
