Baseball Rice Krispie Treat bouquet

Tracking Pixel
We are full swing into baseball season, with three boys on two teams. While I love to see my little men play ball, jumping on the standing cheering for great plays and hard hits, my favorite part of the game is snack time. Oh there is nothing better than munching on some tasty treats and spending time with family. We have become experts on the art of game snacks, you know with at least 4 games a week our schedules are quite crazy! But along with our own snacking comes the joys of providing snacks for the entire team. Now this may not sound like fun to some people, but the moment you provide food for a team of hungry players, you become the favorite! Best job ever my friends! So I’m thankful to Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® for allowing me to share a little bit about why they are one of our go to treats! baseballbaseball and krispies treats
Seriously, feeding the team with tasty Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® is so simple. I love how they are already packaged and ready to go! And nothing beats the creamy taste and sweet smells of these treats, reminding you of the moments you used to spend in the kitchen whipping up a homemade batch with your grandma, but with ease and convenience of the fantastic packaged wonders. The only problem with handing out Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® after the game is when the kids want to keep coming back for more!baseball treatsbaseball krispies
I am so incredibly thankful that my boys have the opportunity to be involved in sports and learn to play as a team. It’s especially fun to see their faces beaming because they are proud of all their hard work. But mostly I am beyond blessed by the adults and coaches who have chosen to invest time in the lives of my little ones and encouraging them. Because I respect them so, I created a fun little thank you treat that happens to be extremely tasty!
baseball rice krispie treats Using Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® I created a Baseball Rice Krispie Treat Bouquet. And this baseball season, Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® is helping families unlock fun and #GetKreative with unique treat creations to spark imagination. This is how we #getkreative in the Estes household! As I’m sure you know, I don’t have a lot of time on my hands because I spend most of it chasing 7 children around. That’s why I loved being able to just rip open the Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® and start from there. No baking required, gotta love that!
baseball krispie treatsbaseball rice krispie
Let me show you how to make this bouquet in less than 10 minutes. For real!

Here’s what you’ll need:

*Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats®
*fancy straws (any pattern you’d like)
*melted white (vanilla) chocolate
*red cookie icing
*display bucket

First open up all your Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® and dip them in the melted chocolate, covering one side. Allow them to dry and harden, then you can “draw” on your baseball lacing with the red cookie icing. Once that has hardened, use a butter knife and poke a hole in the middle of your Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® and insert a straw. To keep the straw from falling out seal it with a little melted chocolate! Arrange them in a little bucket and decorate with extra goodies to make it look extra special! Extremely simple, right?!

But before you head out to grab yourself some Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats®, they have teamed up with Major League Baseball® and legendary shortstop Cal Ripken, Jr., to help families unlock the fun this baseball season with their favorite snack. Until April 30, 2015, Kellogg’s will be looking for another fan to hang out with Cal during All-Star Week. Enter to win by tweeting a photo of you and your family enjoying Rice Krispies Treats using hashtag #GetKreativeSweeps and Kellogg’s will select a winner. And even better is the MLB Play Catch with Cal Online Instant Win Game with Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats®. So head out and show us how you #getkreative with your Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats®.

Homemade Pop Tarts with Chocolate Filling

Post sponsored by Nestle Tollhouse Delightfulls, but all opinions are my own.

In our house, pop tarts are like gold. For one the store bought ones are kind of pricey (when you factor in the amount of pop tarts needed to feed our army), and we burn through them quite fast! Well the other day I decided to try my hand at making a few homemade versions. Now being the pop tart snob that I am, I was a little worried with the end result, but if I do say so myself, they are pretty tasty! Plus adding to that is the fact my kids now think mommy is the coolest. Our first batch were strawberry preserve filled, but we decided to kick this last batch up a notch with some chocolate filling. Homemade Pop Tarts
While shopping the other day at Wal-Mart I came across these Nestle Tollhouse Delightfulls and thought their chocolate-peanut buttery goodness would be perfect for our pop tarts. Hay you heard of these chips from Nestle? They are down right amazing, in fact I bought a bag for our recipe and a bag for me to eat WHILE cooking! (you know you do that too, ha!)
homemade pop tarts 1homemade poptartshomemade pop tarts 2
What you’ll need:
2 cups + 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 cup unsalted butter
4 – 5 Tbsp ice water
1 bag of Nestle Tollhouse Delightfulls

For Icing…
1 cup powdered sugar
2 Tbsp half and half (more as needed)
1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Mix together flour, salt, and sugar. Add butter, ice water, and mix until you have dough clumps. Drop mixture onto a clean surface, gather dough into a ball then divide into two portions. Shape each portion into about a 5-inch circles. Cover each with plastic wrap and chill in fridge for 1 hour.
Line your baking sheets with parchment paper. Grab 1 circle at a time (keep other in fridge to chill), roll dough out onto a floured surface to about 10 by 7 1/2 inch rectangle. Then cut into six 5 by 2 1/2 inch rectangles (cut length in half, then three cuts through the opposite side).
Arrange 6 of the rectangles on baking sheet and spread a handful of Nestle Delightfulls down the center of each rectangle, leaving about a 1/2 inch rim on all sides. Grab another dough circle from the fridge and repeat. Add tops to each of the rectangles, then seal edges with your fingertips and/or a fork. Poke the top center of each tart with a fork (for venting). Cover and transfer to freezer to chill at least 2 hours or up to one week!

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake frozen tarts until golden, rotating racks (if you have multiple baking sheets) once halfway through baking, about 25 – 30 minutes. Allow to cool then begin to add icing!

For the icing:
In a mixing bowl whisk together all icing ingredients well then add more half and half about 1/2 tsp at a time to reach desired consistency. Spread over tops of cooled pop tarts, sprinkle tops with sprinkles, and allow glaze to set at room temperature.

Now enjoy!

These pop tarts have now become a staple in our homes and I hope they’ll be the same for you! But tell me, what would you fill yours with? Do you have a favorite filling?

Some of my favorite dishes boast the yummy goodness that is olives. So when I got the opportunity to feature Olives from Spain and share with you some of my tasty treats, I was super excited! But now on to the good stuff, our simple yet very delicious recipes.

The thing about being in school is that you meet many different people from many countries. One of the sweetest ladies I met was from Germany and she taught me this recipe. There was no name for it, but it was divine, and has become a HUGE hit in our house. So in honor of that sweet friend, we added her beloved country to the name, German Stuffed Bread!

3 Ingredient Avocado Chicken Salad

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of the Wasa.

The new year seems to welcome a whole gambit of goals and resolutions. Ranging anywhere from farting less (for real y’all…gotta love 8 year olds) to the crowd favorite of losing weight. While these all seem great and doable on day one, you’ve got to really focus on something that you can become passionate about and implement. Shoot, if farts are your thing, then so be it. For me this year is not about losing the ‘ole pounds but rather working towards becoming healthier. I want to look and feel great from the inside out.
work out From running half marathons to working on total body strength with yoga, I can’t just stop there. I need to combine healthier food items into my diet. Treat your insides well and it will reflect on your outside! But let’s be honest, if you’re like me you can’t get behind drinking powdery drinks all day in an effort to “get healthier”. Nope, I’d like my food to actually taste like food…and to be good for that matter. Or you can just know that on day three of my healthy new years resolution I’ll be driving through the nearest fast food place for a cheeseburger. One of these new tasty options I’ve found is Wasa’s crispbreads! They have a variety of options, providing people like us with an easy, all natural, healthy option, all of which are produced with Non-GMO ingredients (this is HUGE). In a second I’ll show you my favorite way to enjoy these babies. but Wasa crispbreads are easy to store, carry and eat on-the-go. Perfect for a post work out snack or to shove in the mouths of your littles who never seem to stop asking for food, especially while out of the house!
Wasa crispbread workout Not only are these a healthy food option for me, but I can totally get behind a company that loves to find humor in their advertising. Their current video is hilarious, in fact I wish this was how things were done in the states- I’m sure Sam feels the same! Check out the “Appetite for Life” Staying Fit the Swedish Way, comedic light-hearted video.

3 ingredient avocado chicken salad Now I’ve been DYING to show my tasty snack recipe. You’ll be please to know that the avocado chicken salad is Whole30 approved and the Wasa sourdough crisps were too good to pass up, YUM!
wasa crisp bread and avocado 3was a crisp bread and avocado 1wasa crisp bread and avocado 2was a crispbread and avocado

What you’ll need:
* 2 cooked chicken breasts
* 4 avocados
* handfull of chopped cilantro
* fresh lime juice (1/2 large lime)
*salt and pepper to taste (optional)
* Wasa Crispbreads

Simply chop up your chicken and then cilantro and place it into a bowl. Cut our your avocado in a separate bowl and mash it together. Pour it with the other mixture and squeeze the lime juice in the bowl. Lightly salt and pepper if desired then stir it all together. If you’re like me you can add some delightful Wasa crispbreads on the side. Oh so tasty!

A Tasty Fruit Smoothie for those picky eaters with #enfagrow

Mealtime with kids can be quite interesting and then multiplying that by FIVE, it can be down right insane. Especially when you add in a child bound and determined to be a picky eater. When they only want to live off of macaroni and cheese with hot dogs, but have a love of milk shakes, you have to get creative. And that, my friends, is exactly what we do around here, Family smoothie time. So I was thrilled to work with Enfagrow and try their Toddler Transitions and Toddler Next Step for our little ones.
These smoothies help our children get the nutrients they need without them even really knowing they are! They just love the taste, SCORE! Because we have a picky eater or two, finding facts like this really made us make a concentrated effort to help our children’s healthy development.

“On average, toddlers are only getting about 25% of the brain-nourishing DHA many experts recommend because it’s particularly hard to get from the foods toddlers typically eat. DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid and a building block for the brain. Since 85% of brain growth happens within the first three years of a child’s life, it is important to maintain the recommended levels of DHA through the toddler years.”

After learning a little more on how to easily get DHA into our children’s diet, we came up with this tasty “milkshake”. And because I KNOW that I’m not the only parent out there struggling to get their children to eat, I figured sharing our recipe with our little “secret” ingredient might be nice, ha!
Fruit smoothie.jpg
What you’ll need:

*2 cups of frozen fruit (we used blueberries, strawberries, and pineapple)
*1 cup of plain yogurt
*handful of spinach leaves (the kids NEVER knew it was in there, ha!)
*Enfagrow Toddler Next Step Natural Milk Flavor (mix 2/3 cup with 120z. of water)

You may have guessed it by now, but the Enfagrow Toddler Next Step is our secret ingredient. These toddler drinks are nutritionally tailored for toddlers one to three years and designed to complement a toddler’s regular diet. Mama’s little secret is helping her babies out!

Now back to this TASTY smoothie! Simply add all of the ingredients into the blender and blend thoroughly. Now if you REALLY want to be a cool parent, you’ll let your kids watch…just make sure they don’t see the spinach go in, ha!

How would you like to try these products out yourself?! Well, we will be giving away an Enfagrow gift package (ARV $38) that will include the following:

*One Toddler Transitions Can (21oz.)
*One Toddler Next Step Natural Milk Flavor Can (24oz.)

The giveaway will be run from Wednesday, September 3rd to Wednesday, September 17th midnight (CST)! All you have to do to enter is answer this simple question in the comments:

What do you love about Enfagrow, or why do you want your toddler to try it?

On the Go Snacks For Healthy Kids #loveyourraisins

Last week I had the pleasure of heading back to good ole Dallas/Fort Worth for my sister’s bridal shower and while there I had the opportunity to attend a fun AND yummy California Raisins party. It was SO great to see old blogging buddies as well as learn more about quick, healthy snacks for our kiddos, especially since it’s back to school time!
photo 4photo 2-2
We learned that California Raisins come by their sweetness naturally. In fact, the nutrition label tells a great story: Zero fat, no cholesterol and no added sugar. Plus, raisins offer 9% of your daily fiber and potassium, and 6% of your daily iron. I like the sound of that! And who doesn’t love a great, healthy snack that has convenient and portable packaging so I can toss them in lunches or my purse for on the go treats?! My kids LOVE raisins and beg for them when we are shopping at the store. So it was NO surprise to me that I could NOT keep them away from the food table, ha!
photo 2-3
Well that and the coloring table. There were cute tiny tables loaded with crayons and raisin coloring sheets. Penelope had a BLAST drawing “raisins” on each page instead of actually coloring the pictures. That girl, ha!
photo 3
But what made our party incredible was our celebrity guest! He came all the way out to Dallas to meet us and even agreed to take pictures!
photo 3-2
The kids were completely star struck…or petrified. The emotions were pretty evenly split. But after leaving the party I was inspired. You see I really am not that creative when it comes to raisin snacks with my kids. I just had them the packages and call it good, ha! But after seeing all the fun food at the party I was on a mission to change that! And because I figured many of you are like me, I’ve made a fun pinterest board full of healthy, easy on the go snacks for you and your little ones. Great for back to school time too! So go check it out!Screen Shot 2014-08-22 at 11.46.50 AM
Visit the website for more information about California Raisins and find them on Facebook where you can sign up to receive a California Raisins prize pack! Limited supply; while quantities last.

What’s your favorite raisin snack?!

BLT Eggs Benedict with Avocado #loveavocado

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of the Hass Avocado Board.

Screen shot 2013-12-13 at 9.11.45 AM

Thanks to me, our household has an obsession with Hass avocados. It started of simple really. With a guacamole dip here and an avocado slice there, but now it is full blown into a taste frenzy! About 2-3 times a week I try to think of ways to incorporate avocados into our meals, ha! Pinterest has become my new best friend and it’s like the wonderland where all avocado lovers unite, ha! I’m not sure what makes me love the creamy, dreamy goodness of that green vegetable…or is it a fruit?! (Does anyone REALLY know?!) But it doesn’t just taste good, it’s also good FOR you! When I heard that over 75% of the fat in an avocado is unsaturated and that it makes a great substitute for foods high in saturated fats, I was like HALLELUJAH! I was hooked, who knew I’d like such nutrient-dense, cholesterol-free foods?!  So now I feel slightly justified with making it a part of our daily diet.

Speaking of  your daily diet, have you heard about the Love One Today Campaign?! I hadn’t until recently, but I’m kind of diggin’ it!

BLT Eggs Benedict with avocadoDSC00204DSC00203
What you’ll need:

*Hass Avocados (I used one for two baguette halves)
*spinach leaves
*Hollandaise sauce (I buy the packet and make mine from there…because I’m lazy and it still tastes good, ha!)

Now for the directions:

* Fry your bacon and cut your baguettes in half to toast. I put mine in the oven at 350 degrees for 5 mins.

* While that is going on you can start cooking your Hollandaise sauce according to the packet. And Begin poaching your egg. (The poaching of the egg takes up a lot of attention…well at least it did for me, so make sure you can focus, ha!)

* Slice open one Hass Avocado and cut around the edges to remove the skin. Cut your avocado halves into small pieces and place them in a small bowl. Then lightly slat and pepper and begin to mash the avocado into a spread.

* Cut your tomato into slices and chop up your cooked bacon.

* After everything is cooked, it’s assembly time! Place baguette halves on a plate and spread the avocado on top. Then lightly layer the spinach leaves and tomato slices. Your poached egg is next, and then drizzle the Hollandaise sauce over it to taste. Lastly, sprinkle chopped bacon to garnish your dish.

Doesn’t that look amazing?! Let me tell you, it tasted DIVINE! What a great way to start the day!

What is your favorite way to add avocado into your meal?

Why don’t you go out and Love One Today™?!

Pecan Caramel Candied Gooey Butter Cake #bake4better

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pompeian Grapeseed Oil Spray.

Screen shot 2013-11-07 at 12.25.13 PM

As the holidays quickly approach many of us will begin the dance called; the baking frenzy. You know what I’m talking about. Flour, butter, and sugar plums dance through your head as you whip up some of the tastiest baked goods around. In my family the sweet treats can get a little bit out of control, ha! We love them…and clearly they love us because they seem to cling to my thighs for dear life! But I can never surrender the warm, delicious aroma of a fresh pie being pulled out of our oven. It’s too good y’all; and worth EVERY calorie!

But this holiday season we are throwing in the towel for our other cooking sprays and trying out Pompeian Grapeseed Oil Spray. It’s a light, all-natural cooking spray with a high smoke point. This cooking spray is made from 100% grapeseed oil imported from France, and can be used whether you are stir-frying, grilling, sautéing or baking. Yep, and we’re going to bake our little hearts out! Let’s kick this holiday season off with a fun family favorite, calorie free (if you say that it HAS to be true, right?!), tasty treat!
gooey butter cake
Yes my friends, this is a Pecan Caramel Candied Gooey Butter Cake. Is your mouth water?! Mine is.

What you’ll need:
*Pompeian Grapessed Oil Spray
*box of yellow cake mix
*box (16 oz) powdered sugar
*2 sticks of unsalted butter
*3 eggs
*box (8 oz) of cream cheese
*10 oz bag of pecan halves
*1/2 cup of sugar
*2tbsp of butter

**Preheat oven to 300 degrees**

DSC00055Mix together 1 egg, 1 softened stick of butter, and cake mix.
DSC00061Spray cookie sheet with Pompeian Grapeseed Oil Spray and then spread out the crust mixture evenly along the bottom.
DSC00063Next add 2 eggs, 1 stick of softened butter, and cream cheese. It helps to add the cream cheese in by chunks so it’s easier to blend. Once you’ve mixed that for a second slowly mix in powdered sugar.
DSC00067Mix all the ingredients until batter is smooth.
DSC00068Pour filling over the crust and spread until it’s even. Then bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes, until it’s golden.

When the gooey butter cake is done baking, take it out to cool. Now we move on to the delicious caramel candied pecans! Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan over medium heat then add sugar. Turn heat to high and continually stir until the sugar melts and becomes liquid.
DSC00071As soon as it’s liquid add pecans and stir!
DSC00073Then plate it up!

Now tell me that recipe doesn’t sound amazing?! You HAVE to try if for yourself! And while you’re baking this holiday season you should read through Duff Goldman’s top five baking tips by downloading this attachment. He’s the executive chef of Charm City Cakes and has team up Pompeian to show Americans how to enhance their holiday baking recipes with the new Grapeseed Oil Spray. In fact right now there’s a Baking For Better Challenge you can participate in!

Spooktacular Feast with Tombstone and Nestle #trickurtreat

The girls and I treated ourselves to a fun and festive Halloween Bash! It all started out as a normal meal, but we decided to have some fun with it! They not only had a blast making all of the goodies with me, but they sure loved eating them too, ha!

IMG_1930 IMG_1933IMG_1934

So here’s how it went down. Pizza is always a bit hit at my house and it just so happened Tombstone has the cutest monster face pizza packages! We sure had to snatch one of those up. What fun is a little bash without candy?!  All of our goodies came from our favorite local Walmart; my go to place for almost anything and everything I ever need! Now we had our food, we just needed to kick it up a notch…and that’s where I came in!

First on our candy creation adventure was these tasty Candied Cupcakes.

What you’ll need:

* your favorite cake mix

* your favorite icing

*cupcake liners

* Nestle’s Butterfingers, Crunch, and Nerds

Make your cupcake batter as directed on the cake box. Then pour batter into cupcake liners and bake. (use directions on box)

Once the cupcakes are done baking take them out of the oven to cool. While they are cooling chop up the Nestle’s Butterfingers and Crunch.

After you’re done chopping ice your cupcakes then sprinkle on your candy goodness!

How about some sweet now?! These pretzels get my mouth watering BIG time.

What you’ll need:

* pretzels

* chocolate almond bark

* Nestle’s Butterfinger, Crunch, Nerds

*wax paper

Break up your almond bark and melt it in the microwave. I usually do 30 second increments and take it out to stir. This will help you to see if it’s melted.

While the almond bark is melting chop up your candy.

Lay pretzels out on wax paper then drizzle the chocolate over them.

Grab candies and sprinkle them over the chocolate covered pretzels and let dry.

And finally, what good is all this food if there isn’t anything to wash it down with?! Doesn’t this drink look tasty?!

What you’ll need:

*lime sherbet

*Almond Bark

*glasses (we used martini and wine glasses)

*Nestle’s Butterfiner, Crunch, and Nerds

Scoop out the sherbet into a bowl. It helps to have let the sherbet sit out for a little bit so it’s soft.

Pour in the Sprite and mix well until lumps have mostly dissolved.

Break up your almond bark and melt it in the microwave. I usually do 30 second increments and take it out to stir. This will help you to see if it’s melted.

While the almond bark is melting chop up your candy.

Dip the tip of your glass into the melted chocolate.

Once it’s covered in chocolate add the candy. Let the glass sit for a few minutes to dry and allow the chocolate to set.

Just add punch!

How fun are they?!

These were some quick, but fun additions to a normal meal for us. But the kids LOVED making it special by turning it into a Halloween Bash!

What recipe do you have that you think adding candy to it might just send your taste buds through the roof?

Go out and try it!

Easy Meals with #Kraftrecipemakers

Coming up with new recipes, or having the time to search for new ideas can take a lot of time. Time that frankly I don’t have. But in an effort to not eat the SAME thing everyday I decided to give Kraft Recipe Makers a try. Did you know that you can find them in your local grocery store? I loved the fact that I could just grab the box, pick up the few other ingredients needed, and I was on my way. The Sweet and Sour Chicken looked oh so tasty, so that’s the one I grabbed first!
Here’s why I love the Kraft Recipe Makers; this is all you need to cook your meal. AND it’s stupid easy…not to mention quick! Can you tell why I love it?!
photo 1-6
What you’ll need:
* Kraft Recipe Makers Sweet and Sour Chicken box
* 1-1 1/2 lbs. of thawed chicken
* 1- 1 1/2 cups of uncooked rice
* 1 red pepper (we omitted that because the kids aren’t big fans of it)
* 1 small red onion
* 1 8oz can of pineapple chunks

Now let’s get started. Chop up your chicken, onion, and pepper.

Cook rice as stated on the rice package (minus salt). Then in a skillet cook chicken in 1/2 of the Sesame sauce provided in the Kraft Recipe Makers packet. Once chicken is fully cooked, add the vegetables and rest of the Sesame sauce. Cook for a few minutes until vegetables are crisp-tender. Add in the pineapple and finishing sauce, then let it sit for a minute or two. This way the pineapple can heat through.

Now dish it up and enjoy!
