A couple of weeks ago a few bloggers gathered together for a FUN event at the Fort Worth Pure Barre. We ate on some tasty fruit salad provided by The Lunch Box, received goody bags, and took part in an actual Pure Barre class. Y’all it was a blast. I love meeting up with local bloggers, but it was especially fun for them to experience what I do for a workout on a daily basis now.
Just a little over a month ago I was on a quest to start claiming my body back from my pregnancy affectionately known as “Hurricane Pippa“. Though it was on a level 3 hurricane (ha!), I needed to get my booty in gear and lose that weight. More important than the weight was getting my shape back. Any of you mothers out there know that once you have a baby your body never quite looks the same. Your hips seem larger, there’s a perminent little pooch in your lower belly, etc. These thing are less than flattering but HOW do you get rid of them??? I worked SO hard the months before I got pregnant with Pippa to really lose the baby weight compiled by the 4 pregnancies before…that I never really lost. And while the 45 lbs. melted off, I still felt like I was the same shape, just smaller.
This led me to Pure Barre. For all you local folks Fort Worth now has it’s own location and owned by the AMAZING Kelsey. Seriously, she is so fun and personable. A lot of times trainers/instructors/fitness gurus seem “Holier than Thou“, but Kelsey makes it her business to make sure you feel welcomed and comfortable. I LOVE THAT!
While they have a variety of packages, I decided to go with the “Baby Bounce Back” one (which is a 3 month, unlimited session package for $400). I mean how perfect is that?! Now if you are money conscience like I am, you might be a little taken back by the prices. Some gym memberships are cheaper, but let me tell you, you get what you pay for. Before Pippa I paid for 3 months with a trainer and it was more than this. PLUS those 3 month training sessions only included meeting with him SIX times. So I was left to my own vices in hopes I’d do what I needed to get the results I wanted.
This is where Pure Barre is different…and SO much better. Each class is small enough that it’s like a session with your personal trainer. They show you the moves/positions/exercises you need to do, help correct your form (and not in a rude/embarrassing way), and cheer you on through the whole class. When I say EVERY class is hard, I mean it. Pure Barre is a combination of Ballet, Pilates, and Yoga and is a low impact work out focusing on slow controlled movements. You really isolate each muscle, bring it to the point of fatigue, and push it a little further. Be prepared for your muscles to shake, because baby they will!
When I took my first class, I left thinking, “What have I gotten myself into??“. Frankly I feared even going back, talking myself out of it the rest of that day. But when the next morning rolled around I WANTED to go back. Not sure if it’s like this at all locations, it could just be the stellar Fort Worth establishment, but the instructors KNOW what they’re doing and are excited about what they do, the music is rockin’, and work outs are on point. During your work out you can feel your muscles changing and that is super encouraging! I swear they pump some sort of drug in the rooms, because you get addicted to this work out FAST! Really, I’ve gone 35 times in 40 days! It just becomes a part of you.
If you’re like me, you’ll find yourself standing around your house in different Pure Barre poses doing the moves. Or even saying things like, “The higher the heels, the thinner the thighs.” Yeah, it’s good stuff! So to say I have a love for Pure Barre would be an understatement, but it’s because I can SEE myself getting stronger, leaner, thinner. Clothes fit better, muscles are showing, and flab is fading.
But don’t take my word for it. Just try it out once and tell me you’re not addicted! If you’re local head out to the Fort Worth location and tell Kelsey I sent you. Shoot, let me know and I’ll take a class with you! But be ready to “Embrace the Shake!”

In the name of all things holy, this was a really FUN event!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I’ve never hurt so good and I’m still talking about it. Thank you for putting this together, it was a blast.

The Girl With The Pregnant Belly
You know how much I love Pure Barre – Embrace the shake. And man it’s amazing how such small movements make such a huge difference!
I am SO sad that I missed this!! I HAVE to try it! Maybe we can plan to go to a class sometime!
This looks like so much fun! I took a pilates class in college and it was SO HARD. I imagine this would be so much harder! Ha! 🙂
Wish I could have gone but was out on vacation. I hope you’d organize another one. This looks intense. 🙂
