As most of you know it’s a matter of days before little miss Pippa makes her appearance in this world. The thought of this pretty much throws me into a panic. How can that even be possible?! More importantly, how are we going to be able to afford another child. I mean y’all this is baby number 5. And it’s not like you get a buy 4 and get the 5th for free. No sir-re Bob. You just end up throwing more money into the wind. Poof it’s gone.
And while my other children are excited to have a new baby around (well most of the time), they have better ideas on how they’d like to spend their summer this year. About 4 years ago, right after I had Titus we took the kids to Sea World for Ethan’s birthday. The kids fell in love! So much so, that he has told tale after tale of the wonders from the watery theme park to his siblings and now they want to go themselves. Shoot, if I’m honest, I’d like to take a trip back there too. Seriously, Shamu will rock your socks off. But a trip like this is not cheap and it’s hard to justify MORE money being spent when we are adding another baby soon too. Bummer.

Trying to be the thrifty mama my heart desires, but somehow lacks in capabilities, I searched for ways to make our weekend of fun happen. That’s when I heard about Walmart’s Family Mobile plan. Say what?! I heard things like:
“Lowest Price Rate Plan
No contracts.
No overages.
No Surprise bills.
Half the cost“
My ears began to twitch with excitement. Had I found the answer to my family’s money saving issues? Would I finally become the super saving savvy mom?! I had to go to Walmart and check it out.

When I walked into the store I was a little intimidated. Sam usually handles these things, but I needed to prove my techy and savings skills so I braved this trip alone. But as I began to talk to the employee I realized how simple and straight forward Walmart Family Mobile really was. Not only could you choose between a variety of phones, including “all the rage” smart phones, but you could even use your current (unlocked) phone on this plan. Once you had a phone picked and ready, all you needed to do was purchase a starter kit ($25), and that had your SIM card in it. The employee took a few seconds, got my information, and then activated my phone right there. SO EASY! While the ease of getting and activating a new phone is great, the savings is really WHY I have the phone. For unlimited talk, text, and web I pay $45 a month. That’s it! And if I wanted to add Sam it would only be $35 for his phone a month. That IS about half of what we pay right now. Plus I can manage our accounts online, which is a lifesaver for our busy schedule. This sounded like the best wireless plan for us!

Just think of what could happen if I take the other half of our normal cell phone bill money and saved it?! We could be on our way to our blessed Sea World in no time! What a surprise it will be for the kids. A new baby AND a trip to Sea World?!
I can just hear it now, “Mom of the Year! Mom of the Year!”
So what would you do if your cell phone bill was cut in half with Walmart Family Mobile?
Would you take any trips?
Buy any new gadgets?
Who knew savings could be so fun?

Oh man! I WISH I was paying that much for my cell phone bill. I’m ashamed to admit what we pay per month to keep our family connected on that ever so important cellular level. 😉
Right?! It’s crazy the amount of money we pay for our service! Darn tech addicts! ha!
Wow this is so much cheaper – I will have to check it out! Thanks for sharing!
right?!!?
Knowing me I would be buying more gadgets. I am such a techy girl sometimes. But, I don’t know, a trip sounds good too. Wonder where we could go with the savings? the possibilities are endless. 🙂
I could use that money to pay off debt…we’re on a mission to pay off debt, and cutting my cell phone bill in half would make a big impact on our savings. This is great to know!
Wow, that’s about half of what we pay each month for our two phones. We could put one of the kids into karate for that! 🙂
This would be great for me to purchase for my parents or relatives. I’m a techy but my parents are not.
That’s about what we pay now, but we don’t have smart phones (so no web). Will definitely check this out when our contract is up this fall!
Oh man, I’m with Jamie…I don’t want to admit how much my hubby and I pay for our cell phones. I’m pretty sure you’d croak. I could probably save myself a ton of money. 😉
I’m kinda mad that I’m paying almost double what this Wal-Mart plan is! Be sure to check out my post! I participated in this campaign as well.
I think I’d buy some new clothes. Now that I’ve lost all this weight my wardrobe is lacking.
I had that problem too…before I got pregnant again. ha!
We are saving up for an addition to the house… every little bit counts!
Amen!
I’d definitely like to have that extra money for a vacation! Thanks for the great info!
