As the holidays quickly approach many of us will begin the dance called; the baking frenzy. You know what I’m talking about. Flour, butter, and sugar plums dance through your head as you whip up some of the tastiest baked goods around. In my family the sweet treats can get a little bit out of control, ha! We love them…and clearly they love us because they seem to cling to my thighs for dear life! But I can never surrender the warm, delicious aroma of a fresh pie being pulled out of our oven. It’s too good y’all; and worth EVERY calorie!
But this holiday season we are throwing in the towel for our other cooking sprays and trying out Pompeian Grapeseed Oil Spray. It’s a light, all-natural cooking spray with a high smoke point. This cooking spray is made from 100% grapeseed oil imported from France, and can be used whether you are stir-frying, grilling, sautéing or baking. Yep, and we’re going to bake our little hearts out! Let’s kick this holiday season off with a fun family favorite, calorie free (if you say that it HAS to be true, right?!), tasty treat!
Yes my friends, this is a Pecan Caramel Candied Gooey Butter Cake. Is your mouth water?! Mine is.
What you’ll need:
*Pompeian Grapessed Oil Spray
*box of yellow cake mix
*box (16 oz) powdered sugar
*2 sticks of unsalted butter
*3 eggs
*box (8 oz) of cream cheese
*10 oz bag of pecan halves
*1/2 cup of sugar
*2tbsp of butter
**Preheat oven to 300 degrees**
Mix together 1 egg, 1 softened stick of butter, and cake mix.
Spray cookie sheet with Pompeian Grapeseed Oil Spray and then spread out the crust mixture evenly along the bottom.
Next add 2 eggs, 1 stick of softened butter, and cream cheese. It helps to add the cream cheese in by chunks so it’s easier to blend. Once you’ve mixed that for a second slowly mix in powdered sugar.
Mix all the ingredients until batter is smooth.
Pour filling over the crust and spread until it’s even. Then bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes, until it’s golden.
When the gooey butter cake is done baking, take it out to cool. Now we move on to the delicious caramel candied pecans! Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan over medium heat then add sugar. Turn heat to high and continually stir until the sugar melts and becomes liquid.
As soon as it’s liquid add pecans and stir!
Then plate it up!
Now tell me that recipe doesn’t sound amazing?! You HAVE to try if for yourself!
