DIY Painted Rug

Rugs are expensive, especially area rugs! I have been searching every store possible looking for one that would fit my living room. Months have passed and nothing!And as true to form for me, if I couldn’t find the perfect area rug, I’d make one!

*Cheap rug (I got mine at walmart for $10!)

*Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

*Stencil

*Foam Roll Brush

Mix half paint and half water and begin to paint rug. Paint will soak in to the fabric making the rug keep it’s texture and not allowing the rug to become crunchy from the paint. Once the rug is fully painted, continue to do coats of paint until desired color is reached.

Once the rug is fully painted, lay the stencil on the rug. Use foam paint roller to paint with half paint and half water mixture.

Let the rug sit overnight so it can fully dry. Place your new custom painted rug in place and wait for the oohs and ahhs!
