Last week I shared a little about my love for some fashionable accessories with a cause. Then I got to thinking how could WE have fun with it, get something we love, and help other women out as well?? That’s when it hit me, The Friendship Project.
aka: Lily and Laura Bracelet swap
I’ve seen a few swaps done before with scarves and mugs, and while I LOVE and participate in them, I wanted this one to stand out. To REALLY make a difference! These bracelets are made by women in Nepal, in an effort to pay them more than a fair trade’s wage. Not only that, but they are GORGEOUS! Here’s a little more about them from the site:
“Our handmade Lily and Laura® glass beaded bracelets roll on over any hand. Laura and our women artists in Nepal custom design these creations which are handcrafted in the Kathmandu Valley. We use the finest glass beads in the world in our bracelets. Our business focus is to pay more than fair trade wages to our
artisans in Nepal thereby improving the quality of their lives while providing you with beautiful, top quality, handcrafted glass beaded bracelets. We currently have a large fabulous and colorful summer inventory from which to custom pick your orders based upon your color preferences. We are shipping within one business day of receiving orders. If you are an individual who cannot locate Lily and Laura® bracelets in your area, please have your favorite boutique contact us. Thank you for your support!”

Growing up did you make and/or give friendship bracelets to friends?! I know I did, and I always felt so special. Plus it was fun to see what my friends came up with design wise. That’s kind of what I’m going for here. If you’d like to participate in the swap, just leave your name and email address (and any other social media contacts you’d like) in the comments section, and then I’ll pair everyone up. Once you are paired with your partner, you’ll have two weeks to purchase a Lily and Laura bracelet and send it off to your new gal pal. But don’t just send her a bracelet; write her a note too. Make her feel special. Because she is…we ALL ARE! Too many times as women we tear ourselves down, well let’s spend time building each other up!
And getting some arm candy while we’re at it too!
So, if you’d like to be a participant in the The Friendship Project – Lily and Laura Bracelet Swap here’s the dates to consider.
1. You must comment on THIS post by Friday, August 31st. Remember you need to leave your First AND Last Name, Best Email Address, Twitter Name, Instagram and/or Blog Address (if you have all of that)
2. Partners will be paired and revealed HERE on the blog no later than Monday, September 2nd. You will be responsible to email your partner and get their mailing address. I will also highlight places where you can purchase your Lily and Laura bracelets if needed.
3. After pairing, you will have approximately two weeks to shop and ship your bracelet. All bracelets head to your Swap Partner no later than Sunday, September 15th.
4. We will link up via Blogs/Twitter/Instagram/Facebook to show off our swapped bracelets beginning Wednesday, September 25th.
