It’s no secret that I have five kids. As a matter of fact many people often ask how we “do it“. Now I can’t say that I really have a concrete formula on how to do this plus this and you’ll end up with a big happy family. But I can tell you about one thing that has been an added bonus to us! The kids (and I) have fallen in love with Netflix Families. We first took the Netflix plunge a couple of months ago and I was honestly surprised at how fast it became an intricate part of our every day lives. This summer when we take long trips, or are out running errands, we just stream one of the kids’ favorite shows and BAM everyone is happy! Seriously, it’s scary how fast the screaming, crabby car can turn into a peaceful, serene one.
As a matter of fact, last week we were invited to a local blogger’s home for a Netflix Families party. On our drive to Dallas, we just propped up our iPhone (because we are ghetto like that, ha!) and the kids watched a show streamed live from Netflix. It was perfect!
Once we arrived at the Party, the kids and I were surprised to see all of the fun decorations! Molly from Digital Mom Blog did an amazing job at turning her home into a dinosaur lover’s dream. And boy were my kids happy! To tell you the truth, Sam and I were a bit giddy ourselves!
We colored pictures, played dino games, took pictures at the photo booth and even grew our own dinosaurs! My kids were in heaven.
As we sat down to chat about Netflix Families I learned some interesting facts:
- Netflix.com/Families features several new categories including Family Movie Night, Are We There Yet and TV for Curious Kids.
- The new Netflix.com/Families page is available for both members and non-members!
- Many families in the U.S. already have three or more Netflix-ready devices in their household. Netflix works on a wide range of devices including smartphones, tablets, laptops, Smart TVs, Sony PlayStation, Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo Wii.
- Families with Netflix can enjoy their favorites – always without commercials – anytime, anywhere.
- A year of Netflix costs less than taking a family of 5 to 2 movies.
- Netflix has a dedicated section of movies and TV shows for kids 2-12.
Did you know any of that?!? We totally use our Wii at home to stream Netflix. Not to mention our iPhones while we are away from the television!
The party was such a blast! I just love when I get the opportunity to attend events like this. Not only did I get to learn more about Netflix Families, but I was able to see some of my favorite bloggers! Plus it was fun for all the kids to play together; I’m thinking another meet up is a must!

Your crew is so much fun! Glad you could make it, great pics!
I LOVE Netflix! Your party look like so much fun!
I wasn’t aware of the Netflix Families section, thanks for highlighting it!
No commercials is my FAV feature! I am sometimes shocked by the commercials they run during kids shows on tv! Love knowing that when she is on Netflix I don’t have to worry about that!
I’ve never heard of Netflix Families before – something to look into! Thanks!
Do y’all have to be the funnest parents out there? We love Netflix – it’s great to hear about the Families program. 🙂
My family loves Netlix as well! Several of us have chronic illnesses so it can be really nice to have movie marathons without having to wait for the next episode or movie. We often have Doctor Who or Star Trek marathons. It is also really nice for my disabled sister, Sarah, because we can find good clean kids shows for her like Angelina Ballerina.
