There is something about coffee isn’t there. It has the ability to turn a day around, rally your concentration, and provide comfort on a cold day. Man, if only my life were told as a journey with my coffee. Where has it taken me? Given me the courage to go? Or even who have I built relationships with while enjoyng that java goodness?! Well while at Walmart the other day I snagged a Mr. Coffee® 10-cup Optimal Brew™ Thermal Coffee Maker and some Millstone® Coffee to celebrate my big man’s BIG DAY and his coffee journey!
Yes, Friday was a BIG day for us, a day of celebration. One that has been 10 years, 5 kids, and 3 jobs in the making. My husband was finally able to walk across the stage and claim his diploma for his long awaited degree. You see this man has worked so hard to be here at this moment in time. There were countless hours spent providing for our family full time while allowing me to stay at home with our children. Then he made sure to invest precious time with me and our babies, never letting us think we weren’t important to him. And finally usually after we were all in bed, he’d be up doing school work just to make sure nothing was missed. If you were to ask him what fueled this incredibly long and hard journey (other than Christ) he’d say COFFEE! It was almost like his secret love language; if he were tired, stressed, just wanting to relax, or needed that extra kick, ask him if he’d like a cup of coffee. And 99% of the time it would be a resounding YES! 
This man has earned all of the accolades we gave him this past weekend and SO MUCH MORE! Though this journey took a lot longer than others, he stuck with it and finished on top in my book! What a great man I can call husband and father of my children!
So his schooling days are coming to an end, his new jobs promises to be a new kind of challenge, but one that he is so blessed by and called to. We used to hang out and drink coffee in HS trying to stay up all nite. Now I drink coffee in the morning before the kids wake up & I enjoy my quiet time. Things sure have changed
When I was a kid, my grandparents were big coffee drinkers and they bought me a teeny-tiny cup that matched theirs. They would pour their steaming mugs each morning and pour me a cup of mostly milk with a dash of coffee. I can remember sitting outside with our “coffee” and watching the lake as the sun rose. I SO treasure those memories and I can’t wait to buy my kids their own tiny cups to continue the tradition. 🙂
