I remember hearing about toothbrush bracelets when I was in junior high, I think. And I’m sure a friend taught me how to make then, but I thought they were the coolest thing ever. I mean who would have EVER thought to take a simple toothbrush and turn it into a bracelet?!
So the other day, I headed to the store with the children to pick out toothbrushes. They thought we needed them for merely brushing their teeth and boy were they surprised when they saw what we actually did with them, ha! In fact they were a bit upset at first that I would rip up their new toothbrushes, but I told them to have a little faith in me! Here you are my friends, possibly the easiest and coolest craft ever. The Toothbrush Bracelet Tutorial.
What you’ll need:
*toothbrushes (get the cheap simple kind; no rubber or metal on/in them)
*pliers
*glass cup, jar (or circle shaped item)
**not pictured**
*large pot of boiling water
*tongs
*large bowl full of ice water
*towel
Use the pliers to pull all of the bristles out of the toothbrushes.
Take one toothbrush at a time and place into boiling water. Let it sit in there for a few minutes until the toothbrush is very flexible. Use tongs to take it out of the water and place it onto the towel.
Quickly wrap the toothbrush around your circle shape using a towel so you don’t touch the hot toothbrush. **Note: I ended up cutting out the circle shape and just hand molded the toothbrushes into the desired shape. It was easier for me.** When you have your bracelet complete, toss it into the bowl of ice water for a minute.
After a minute the shape will have set and your bracelet is ready! Take bracelet out of the cold water and wear it ALL. THE. TIME!
Aren’t they the coolest?!!?
