As a frequent crafter, my hands get really gross. Glue gets caked on my finger tips, paint gets stuck in my nails, and most of the time they smell like spray paint, but it’s the price I pay for some cute looking results! But, enough is enough, and eventually I’m ready for my hands to start looking and smelling like roses. Luckily, I ran across a way to create one of my old favorites “Mary Kay Satin Hands”. One of the reasons I craft so much is to save money, and trust me when I say, knowing how to make your own hand scrub will save a ton!
Here it is, our DIY Sugar Scrub. Let all pocket books and dry hands say AMEN!
What You’ll Need:
*jelly jar
*Sugar (preferably pure cane sugar)
*knife or something to stir with
*measuring cup
*Pink Dawn Olay Hand Renewal Soap
Measure and pour 3/8 cup of sugar directly into jelly jar
Measure and Pour 2 TBS of soap, and pour directly over sugar
Use knife to stir the mixture until completely combined
Place lid back on top of the jelly jar, and there you go, one of the easiest and cheapest way to get your hands smelling and feeling great after a good “get your hands dirty” kind of craft!
And of course everything looks a little cuter with a bow, right?!

I love this and plan on making some, but can you give some directions for use?
Sure! Just spoon a little out onto your hands and scrub…kind of like you’re washing them. Then after a minute or two, rinse hands and dry. They will be so soft after!

Quick note….recipe says to pour “soup” into the jar with sugar. I am just certain you meant “soap”!

This is genius! I’m totally doing this with my students for Mothers Day! Now I just have to figure out where to get cheap jars for 26 students!
Sara, maybe someone can donate the large baby food jars to the class. I’m sure someone has baby siblings in that phase.
how long will this keep on the shelf? Can I make it months in advance for gifts?

I’m really surprised that no one mentioned the typo. It gave me a good laugh. I assume you mean “soap” not “soup”.
Can you use granulated sugar? Or does it have to be cane sugar?
Do you think adding a couple drops of essential oil for a good scent would work?
