And a wee little man was he
He climbed up in a sycamore tree
For the Lord he wanted to see
And as the Savior passed that way
He looked up in that tree
And He said, “Zacchaeus, you come down!
For I’m going to your house today
For I’m going to your house to stay”
Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Was I just going to church, sitting in “my” seat (come on, you know you have one too), singing the songs, listening to the preaching, just because that’s what I do on Sundays? We wake up, scramble to get the kids and ourselves half way decent ready, rush to church, drop the crazy kiddos off to their classes, go to Sunday School, then head to worship. When that’s all finished we pack everyone up and head home. Had I found myself stuck in a routine that no longer held any meaning? What if instead, I woke up on Sundays saying, “God, you come down! For I’m going to your house today.”?!
What if I walked into church ready and expecting God to show up and rock my world?!
Girlfriend, I’ve got to say that would totally change the way I felt about church. And you better believe it would change the WAY I worship.
But let me challenge you a little further. And by you I totally mean myself, ha! Gotta shoot you straight here. God doesn’t just have to show up on Sundays. Shocking I know. So how about each morning before we spend time in His word we say, “God, you come down!”. Whew! You better believe me, the Word will come alive! God is more than happy to show up, grow you, shape you, and mold you into His image. But expect it! Ask Him to…and He will!
This week let’s call out to God, have Him crawl into those deep dark spots of our hearts, shine His light on them, and reveal Himself to us. Because girlfriend, He wants to.
And in my life, I want Him to. You?

Oh my… conviction much? I love it! That is me on Sunday mornings some weeks… exactly. We are too concerned with what is for lunch than what we are supposed to be learning from God. I want “God to come down” daily in my life too. Love how He speaks through our kids.
Thanks so much for the smack across the face. Yeah, I totally needed it.
Wow! Powerful message lady! Something we should all be mindful to be aware of. It takes more than going through the motions… anyone can do that. Thanks! Visiting from SheShares.
