It has been so hard to post these last few weeks because the only thing on my mind was the fact that my body had been taken over by this baby who decided to set up residence in my uterus…without my permission I might add. Haha!
So now that the cat is out of the bag, I understand you want details. And really who wouldn’t? If it wasn’t me who was knocked up (my mom will kill me for putting that), I’d want to know too. So here it is…maybe too many details. Sorry dad.
*This post is what we like to call a lot of TMI, so if you can’t handle that then turn back now!*
Okay, I’ve done my part…
It all started because I was breastfeeding my daughter, and what usually proves true for me while I’m breastfeeding, is that my “monthly visitor” (we’ll call her Martha) doesn’t come back from vacation until about 8-9 months after the baby’s born. While that is all fine and dandy, it does take a few months for things to get a back on schedule, which throws me for a loop. With that said, Martha made her first visit back around Thanksgiving, and then when she didn’t show up around Christmas I began to wonder. I decided to buy a pregnancy test to be sure I wasn’t pregnant, but I wasn’t too worried (because Martha’s visits weren’t on schedule yet) so I couldn’t justify getting an expensive test. To the dollar store I went. The next morning just as I suspected…it was negative. I let out a sigh of relief and went about my merry way.
During January I began to get a little shaky and dizzy right before meals. Nothing big, and I figured it was because I was still nursing and trying to scale back my glutenous eating habits. Then the shaky, dizzy feeling had a new friend…nauseous. Was it a stomach bug? Cancer? Something serious? Maybe…dare I say it…pregnancy? Who knows. So I did the only thing a hypochondriac wife could do…tell her husband. He told me I was probably thinking way too much of things and causing the “symptoms” to be worse. Plus, it was impossible for us to be pregnant. (haha!)
A couple days later I told Sam I needed to know what the deal was, and even though he thought I was crazy, my sweet husband agreed that I could go to the store and buy a test. So at 10pm I jumped in the car and drove myself to Wal-Mart where I bought the Cadillac of pregnancy test. Once I arrived home it took me about 20 minutes to muster up enough courage to actually take the test. Then as I nervously walked into the bathroom, Sam told me I had to stay in the bathroom until I knew the results. Two minutes…he was going to make me be in the same room anxiously waiting on a test that held our fate? How rude. After taking care of business and placing the cap back on the test (because that’s just what you do) I watched at the color run across the results window….one line…okay, that’s the control, right (even though it wasn’t)…then quickly…two lines. Yep, it took all of about 5 seconds for me to pop out of the bathroom and tell my husband that baby number four was on his or her way.
That night we sat in complete shock and decided we could joke about it, because we weren’t quite ready to grasp the reality of this new addition.
Little did we realize, it would take us quite a bit of time to do so…..

Hang in there!
can’t wait for part two! 😉
Been there, done that. I took pregnancy test #4 while Hubby was at work, hands shaking the entire time. “Yep,” I said to him on the phone. “We have a family of six.” Now, I wouldn’t change a thing! You’ll be pleased as punch pretty soon!
Oh Girl! I haven’t talked to you in forever, but your blog is just TOO awesome.
Anyway, I stumbled upon the other part to this– with the 50’s pictures last week maybe? CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
