Warning this post may be a little negative!
So I am frustrated right now at parents…not all parents, just the ones who don’t think twice to take their sick child to preschool/church/etc. Are they just thinking that they need a break so this is their opportunity…or maybe it is inconvient to miss anymore work…I don’t know. But by bringing your sick child to these places, you are risking the health of all the other children.
I have been at work many times where a parent brings in a child with “questionable” health…and in all honesty I would love to smack them…but I know that is not the best thing to do…so I don’t. I just sit and pray that my child can be strong enough not to catch what this child is carrying around with them.
Example:
On Tuesday a child was brought to preschool and the nanny said he was sick, but didn’t have a fever…he acted strange all day. Then in the afternoon when he woke up from his nap he decided to drop the other teachers in the room and me a surprise…a BIG surprise. He threw up…twice! We immediately strapped all of the other children in the swings and sanitized their hands. We stripped him of his clothes and took care of the mess. (Though I might add I almost threw up myself a couple of times from the smell!)
Then Friday rolls around and the other teachers and I assume that this child won’t be at school today…but we were wrong…the mother brought him and said that the whole family got it…and might I add she looked ROUGH as she told us this. All I saw was a “walking illness”, and I kept my eye on this kid for the whole day…he still acted really strange, but no throw up.
After school I brought Ethan home and he and I took our naps…I LOVE my naps…and as my belly gets bigger I appreciate them more daily! Anyway about 6pm we both wake up, and I am shocked at the quality of our nap…it was so long…(and I was so naive). I gave Ethan a snack and started on dinner…he was very cranky and wanted me to hold him the whole time…which hindered my cooking abilities. So I finally sat down with him…and it wasn’t two seconds later that he bestowed upon me his own gift…twice! After he threw up he started screaming and crying! I felt so bad for him, he was so scared…this was his first throw up experience! Poor kid! We immediately took a shower since I wore most of his gift! After the shower I decided I should try to take care of the mess before Sam got home because it made me sick…as I was cleaning it up Ethan was yelling, “Yucky, Yucky!”…to which I agreed! Then we sat on the couch and waited for daddy to come home…the whole time he was whining. I felt so bad…bad for Ethan….and I felt bad that Sam didn’t get to experience it. Ethan decided he wanted to have Sam join in the club as well…and not long after he was home Ethan threw up again. The whole night Ethan would fall asleep and whine and whine and whine…he would call out for mommy to hold him, then daddy to hold him…which we were scared to…he was just so sad and I felt so bad!
The whole time I was angry at that parent!
Well, today he hasn’t thrown up again, buthe just now ate some crackers…so we will see…and I really pray that Sam and I don’t get it either!
So sorry for the negativity, but I just had to get it off of my chest!

I totally agree!!!! We send home daily notes and I always include if we have a sick child: If your child is sick, please keep them home. What are these parents thinking. In the first place, a sick child only wants to be home with mommy. Also, Just remember Ethan’s immune system is growing stronger.

I also agree. I think that Ella got a stomach bug from another kid that had came to school sick. I have to take so many sick days to stay home with her when apparently, other parents aren’t doing the same. Very frustrating indeed. I hope Ethan feels better soon. Poor little guy; he just got well again.

I hate that too! Of course, you know that already. Is there not a rule about sending sick kids home? Church and play group have been our #1 places of getting sick. Soooo frustrating.
Poor Ethan! I hope he is still feeling better. Throwing up is no fun, and so sad. Lucy gets really clingy too when she is sick.

Well, Eva has been praying for you and Ethan. It’s super sweet. I’m a little miffed too that this kid came to school. Not cool! I’m so sorry that you had to experience the product irresponsibility. 🙁
