Today was no ordinary day at the Estes house…we were able to go see my mother graduate from the seminary wives certificate program. We had originally started the program together, but in my true lazy fashion I decided I didn’t want to continue…don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the time that I spent with my mom…I just was sad over missing the time with my son. (this was right after he was born…and of course I was still breast feeding)
Anyway Ethan and I got ready in our nice Easter outfits (because we had to look our best…and since this was the last purchase that we made…it made the cut) and went to a reception at Pecan Manor (the president’s house). I felt so uncomfortable at the president’s house because we all had snacks on fancy china with no place to sit it…and I had a 19 month old child trying to run after the dog. Luckily my dad took him on many “field trips” to search for that puppy. Which brings me to my next point;
how can people with such a fancy (meaning everything breakable) house have pets…and they had a black lab…who might I add was an indoor dog!? Also they have grandchildren that frequent their house…so either those are the best behaved children and pets or a lot of things gets broken! I would bet the Paige Patterson and his wife run a pretty tight ship…(I took one of her classes and that is the least I could say…though she is a nice lady).
After the reception we all walked over to chapel where the ceremony was going to be held and we waited for Sam to get out of class. Sam walked into chapel and caught Ethan’s eye…and he ran to him yelling, “Daddy, Daddy” like he hadn’t seen him in a week…but I think he was just excited because he never gets to see Sam during the day…especially not on “daddy’s turf”.
*side note: when I noticed Sam, I saw that he too had put on his Easter outfit for today (I didn’t get to see him before he left this morning)…what a good man…he sure does know me well!!!*
The graduation went well minus a few operatic screams from my child at the end. The funny thing is my mom said, “Oh he did so well.” and I am thinking, “First of all, you always say that, and second, if he had been pulling people’s hair out you would have said, ‘it could’ve been worse'”…but you’ve gotta love grandparents, because you can be about to kill your child (not really) and they always see the good. So I think they keep me grounded…only don’t tell me that when I’m angry at Ethan, or I might go off on you…you know what I mean. (must be a pregnancy thing)

What a sweet post to your mom. I laughed when I pictured Ethan running after the dog inside. You definitely DON’T have a big belly!I think it is cute, and I loved the polka-a-dot dress!
That’s great that your mom finished right before your dad graduates. Are they planning on staying at the church in Joshua?
By the way, congrats Tina (and Ron in a month)!
