Last night as Sam and I headed out to our next to final foster care/adoption class, we were met with a rather unusual circumstance. After exiting off the highway, dreaming of the Starubuck drink we were about to indulge in, we stopped at the light right off the ramp. I’m sure Sam and I were enthralled in the deepest of conversations, but at this second it evades me, ha! Then all of the sudden we were knocked forward, jolting our bodies to the dashboard and causing a slight freak out on my part.
As I yelled, “OH MY GOSH!” we sat in disbelief of what had just happened. I turned to look at the car behind us to confirm my suspicion and the elderly lady driving that car acted as though nothing even happened; all while she continued her conversation on her phone. Sam put the car in park and stepped out to see the damage, though we were pretty certain there wasn’t any, but he was just trying to see if the lady would step out and acknowledge that she hit us. It took about a good minute or so for her to leave her vehicle- still connected to that cell phone of course. After scoping out our bumper Sam looked up, “I think our car is fine, are you okay?” No response, she just stared at him. Then without warning, “There’s something dead in my car.” she blurted out. Before having a chance to really soak all of that greatness in, the elderly lady turned and got back in her car. When Sam told me the story after getting back in the van, he said he wondered if she had a guilty conscience for a split second and was admitting to a deadly crime, ha! We really have NO clue as to what she was referring to, but one thing WAS certain, when the light turned green we hurried to get out from in front of her. Yes, y’all stuff like this ALWAYS seems to happen to us, ha!
Since that ill-fainted moment off the highway, we have been plagued with questions/scenarios on what this lady meant. In an effort to have some more fun with this crazy experience I want to have a little contest! You will have until Monday, June 2nd at midnight (CST) to enter and the winner will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card! (Let’s just hope your journey to claim your java goodness won’t turn out like ours, ha!) Just answer the question below with each entry getting a different comment. The most creative answer wins!

What in the world do you think the lady was talking about?!

Well, clearly it must have been some kind of rodent. I’ll say a dead mouse. Here is the story. She is a cat lady. She owns a bunch of cats, and one of them left the mouse inside her car as a gift showing such pride in being a good mouser. She got in her car and was driving along, when the mouse shocked her and so surprised her that she ran her car into your car. She was on the phone relating the incident to her friends, so really didn’t have time to deal with the fact that she hit your car. Also, you should have written down the license plate because you will probably see the car description on the next missing elderly billboard on the freeway today.
She sounds crazy! Must of know you would have no words for her comment and it worked! 🙂
Personally, I think she was driving along and cranked her a/c up to 11 when she smelled something RANCID and AWFUL coming out of the vents. It was definitely a skunk. And the the poor lady temporarily passed out from the smell when WHAM-O!!!!!!! Estes Extravaganza! I suspect she was calling animal control to remove the dead skunk from her engine when Sam approached her.
That’s definitely what happened.
I do believe it was a dead mouse in her car, how it got there who knows but I believe this has happened to me! Yes, I have 4 mousers and one of them could have run the mouse in my car while my door was opened OR I could have brought the critter(s) home with me when I picked up some items from a store that were in a closed box? Any who, my question is HOW DO YOU GET THE SMELL OUT OF YOUR CAR??? I cannot find the dead victim and probably in my seats or dash, but the smell still lingers on after 2 months now!!!!! I have tried everything except a full expensive detail job!
