A table I’d love to eat at.

I have recently become a huge Southern Living fan. Which shocks me, and probably most of the people that know me because I am nothing like a Southern Living woman. Let’s be honest…it’s true. Now I do aspire to be a warm, hospitable, well groomed, tastefully gaudy decorated Southern Lady…but until that time comes, I can always dream. haha!

Have no fear because you get to live out my desire right here on this purdy thing I like to call my blog. I know, you are so lucky. And since Thanksgiving will be here in a couple of days, I only thought it right to start there, because we all want breath-taking decorated table tops. Or at least I would if I was hosting a Thanksgiving dinner…which aren’t we all glad I’m not? So take theses thoughts into consideration and channel you inner Souther Living Lady for me.

When decorating especially for a holiday, I like to use items or themes that wouldn’t necessarily be paired with said holiday. That’s why I think I loved this design!
 Elizabeth Demos created a table landscape called Rustic Elegance.
 “I wanted it to be rustic and woodsy —sans gnomes,” says Elizabeth.

Look at the simplicity of the white plates with the elegance of the silver flatware. 
Gorgeous.
Then she added the pop of orange to give the table a Fall touch.
Cut logs…who would have ever thought of that? 
Stacking the different lengths of logs throughout your table adds height and depth to your table. I like adding the moss to some of the logs, but not quite sure how I feel about the mushrooms. Maybe you could add some simple blooms or colorful leaves instead.
Growing up in my house, when we had a party it was always themed.
All they way down to the tiniest details. 
So when I saw these slices of butter, I about fainted because it screamed my mother.
Elizabeth actually used a faux wood grain tool that was slightly chilled to imprint the butter. You will definitely want to put those suckers back in the fridge until your dinner guest are ready to eat.
This little touch might have them swooning…so be prepared. 😉
These place cards are precious. 
Not only can you use the acorns to glam up the leaf place cards, but you can also scatter them throughout your table setting.
Top your table off with candles. Mix in fun colored lanterns with canning jars as your candleholders.
And if you have a buffet out, bring the rustic feel to it as well. 
These aren’t expensive things to do, but they sure do make a statement and change the feel of your dining table.

However you choose to decorate your table for Thanksgiving is great, just make sure you bring your personal style in. Then it’s often easy to decorate because you instinctually know what needs to go where.
Remember though, that the most important part of Thanksgiving is not how your table looks, the food you eat (yes, if it’s me that’s a close second), but it’s a time to be thankful for all the blessing in your life. 
And for me, I’m thankful for my Lord and Savior, husband, three beautiful children, wonderful family, and some pretty sweet friends.

    Love this post!! I heart Southern Living as well!! For decorating I don’t have any tips, the magazines think of them all. 🙂 But what I am thankful for the most, a God that loves me unconditionally, a husband that adores me, and two kids that can make me laugh uncontrollably.
