Today’s prompt was: A Post Title I am Particularly Proud Of.
Originally aired December 23, 2009 here is my favorite titled post!
You might be a redneck if….
…while in Arkansas your day consists of….
1. getting your hair cut
2. getting a manicure
3. AND going to the gun range!
For real!
I never, EVER wanted to touch a gun, let alone shoot one.
In fact, when I was in high school my dad was showing Sam his shotguns and he asked me if I wanted to hold one. Mind you it was not loaded, but I was petrified! Not wanting to look like the weak little girlfriend I picked one up, and held it like I thought you should. Then I tried to turn and show my dad and Sam to see if I was correct and apparently I pointed the barrels right at Sam’s face. He yelled and swatted the gun away…
since then I have been traumatized!
no joke.
So when Sam’s dad talked about going to the gun range the other day with his guns (.22, .380, and a 9mm) I had NO intentions to go and I REALLY didn’t want Sam to go either. I was afraid I would end up a widow…and with a 7 hour drive home, that would be tragic. HA!
Somehow I was talked into going but I figured I would stay in the car the entire time.
That plan soon changed to…
…maybe just stand behind in the safe zone
then it somehow went to…
…maybe just shoot the gun once (my dad would be So proud)
then to…
…emptying an entire round (a couple of times)
Sam and his family laughed at me the whole time because I was incredible nervous. The first time I heard a gun fire I had my ear muffs on…but I jumped, squealed, cried, and laughed all at the same time.
no joke.
I guess even if I didn’t fire a gun I was quite the entertainment!
Only in Arkansas can you find a scared, pregnant, freshly coiffed lady shooting a gun at the gun range.
Classy.
Here is the trip documented by photographs. Taken by the trusty iPhone.
I was not touching anything.
Still in the safe zone!
Sam’s sister Anna and I
Aren’t we so fashionable?!
Acting completely awkward
I thought it was funny that I was a pregnant lady at a gun range
Sam’s dad firing away (pro)
Sam firing (Intermediate)
Anna firing (intermediate)
Then me:
COMPLETE amateur!
After I finally touched the gun, it took me about
FIVE minutes shoot it!
Apparently you don’t lean away from the gun
…who knew?
I guess that’s why I completely missed the target the first time
and hit the dirt pile in the back.
Everyone laughed…
even strangers, sigh.
a little better
(nice hair)
Don’t mess with me!
(gotta love the red nails!)
This is my target
bulls eye, HOLLA!
Things got a little crazy after awhile:
Sam digs a pregnant woman with a gun, HA!
Charlie’s angels
I think that I have found my true calling.
Just saying.
