As many of you may know I recently had my sonogram appointment for this pregnancy.
Oh yeah!
So I have compiled a list of do’s and don’t’s from my experience!
Get ready:
* don’t invite people to take a poll about what they think the gender of your baby is…especially when you really are hoping for one way. Shows who your true friends are, haha! 😉 ahem, Stephanie, Haley, and Dad, ahem.
* do get excited when you realize this is the first time that you get to see your precious baby!
* don’t panic when you realize it is about an hour til your appointment and you haven’t drank anything really all day.
* don’t chug a route 44 drink from Sonic in said hour in the hopes to fill your bladder enough to get optimal view of the baby.
* don’t realize after consuming all that liquid that your sonogram appointment is on the second floor of the building…and there is no elevator!
* don’t walk in the door and find out that the tech is running behind on appointments and then proceed to do the “pee pee dance” until it is your turn.
* do breathe a sigh of relief when the last couple before you walks out.
* don’t try to lay down on the bed and have the pressure of your sweet baby CRUSH your bladder!
* don’t tell your ultrasound tech that you drank so much liquid that you have to tinkle SO bad, and then proceed to hear her laugh at you and say that you really don’t need to have a full bladder anymore to do a good sono.
* do let your heart get all warm and fuzzy when you see your sweet baby and hear his/her heartbeat, and it’s okay to cry a little.
* don’t laugh when the tech scans over your bladder and says,”Yeah, you really are full!”
* don’t almost pass out as you wait for the tech to show you the baby’s gender.
* do cry as she tells you that your baby is a GIRL!!!!!
* don’t pretend to flatter the lady and hurry her so you can leave and tinkle!
* don’t mistake the lady putting her hand up to wave us out for her trying to give you a hug and then hug her awkwardly.
* don’t worry as she stares at you like you are strange while you hug her.
* do head to the bathroom and proceed to tinkle for a minute straight.
* don’t laugh as your husband opens the bathroom door, peeks his head in, and say, “You’re still going?!”
* do tell everyone you know that your life will soon be full of dresses and bows!
Honestly, I am SO thankful that my sweet baby girl is healthy…and tickled PINK she is a GIRL! For all of those who would like to know, her name is Paisley. (YAY!)
I’m doing my victory dance!

Ha ha. I liked your list. And what’s up with your “true friend” bit! It is okay. I am still excited for you. Congrats on lots of pink and a healthy girl!!!
haha, the “true friend” part was TOTALLY a joke!
That was HILARIOUS! And whatever… you know I love you more than my luggage (as the girls from Steel Magnolias would say). 🙂 I’m obviously THRILLED that you’re having a little girl. And I will be laughing all night about you hugging the sono tech! So funny!
P.S. Please write more blogs. You make me laugh!
I am so excited for you! When is your lil’ girl arriving? Ours will be here in Dec…we have started collecting dresses and bows- so exciting!
