He gives and takes away

Two weeks ago I found out that Sam and I were going to be expecting our THIRD child! Wow, totally unexpected, but such a blessing none the less!
Sam said awhile ago that he wanted a BIG deal the next time I told him I was pregnant, so on Memorial Day I was 5 weeks and 3 days and I planned a cute way to tell him. (I had to keep it a secret for a week and a half ’til I could figure out a good way! Oh that was SO HARD!)
So what I did was send him on a scavenger hunt around the house where he would find a clue and then be directed to a new spot. Each time he picked up  clue he received a letter from the alphabet. At the end of the scavenger hunt he had to unscramble the letters which spelled out “dad x three!”. Boy was he surprised but excited. 
Then on Wednesday of last week I began to bleed, and I miscarried. I talked to my midwife and she confirmed what I thought. 
I think I am in kind of a shock…two times, two times. Wow, I have lost two babies. Two babies I’ll never hold on this earth, never get to kiss their little toes, wipe their runny noses, and change their diapers. While that hurts for me to think about I had a song pop into my head the other day that was DEFINITELY from the Lord.

Though I walk through the wilderness

When the darkness closes in, Lord

When the sun’s shining down on me
When the world’s all as it should be

On the road marked with suffering
Though there’s pain in the offering

When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say…
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say 
Lord, Blessed be your name

Is God good or what?! 
Every time I begin to mourn or weep over the loss of another baby this song jumps right back into my train of thought. And it is SO true! Through every blessing I am thanking the Lord, for all He has done and all He has provided. But when when the “darkness closes in” do I do the same? I should. 

So when the darkness closes in Lord, I will STILL say, Blessed be YOUR name! You give and take away, but my heart will chose to say, blessed be YOUR name!

    God is good all the time! and I fell your pain! Sorry about your lost!

    We lost ours about a month ago and the pain is still real but God is still putting a smile on my face 🙂

    Humbling and comforting all at once are the words of Job in 1:21 when he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD.” They helped for me when we miscarried earlier this year. The Lord will give you the grace to get through this if you lean on Him and trust His plans. Lots of love and prayers for you and Sam.
