alternate title: I’m a HOT mess!
Have any of you guys seen this movie?
In the movie Samuel Jackson and Bruce Willis are polar opposites…
Bruce NEVER gets hurts, and Samuel ALWAYS does.
When I was thinking about today and what I was going to talk about, I thought of this movie. Crazy huh?
I think I must have a polar opposite…
maybe you are reading this post.
………………………..
But I have been a HOT MESS lately.
I was like that when I was pregnant both times…and come to think of it, I don’t know if I even fully recovered from that mess before getting pregnant with Titus.
Let me give you a few examples of why I say this:
-last week at school I dropped a toy on Titus’ head
-I packed peanuts in Ethan’s lunch (our school is a peanut free zone because some kids are allergic)
-left some paperwork at home
– Saturday I forgot to bring Ethan some jeans for our Family picture (so you can see his underwear in the photo going out to everyone.)
-can’t seem to get caught up on ANYTHING I do
-today was our Thanksgiving celebration at school…thought it was Thursday (so I had to call Sam and my parents to let them know…and see if they could bring the 3 pumpkin pies I was supposed to bring)
-I lugged all of my stuff inside the school and forgot to lock my car!
– Christy my boss, saw me this morning and said if I needed to leave Ethan’s backpack and nap mat here I could (apparently I looked a hot mess because I carry in like 14 bags to school!)
-I forgot to change my son’s diaper and he leaked all over his outfit ( I mean it was HARD to find a dry spot on his clothes)
-I had to go FINALLY order pictures from when Titus was born, and I ran late to that! here and here they are online (password: titus)
Those are just a few things to prove my point!
…………………………..
Which got me thinking about what a friend and I were talking about the other day. You see, I think that MANY people have a popular Christian saying wrong. I think God ABSOLUTELY gives us more than we can handle! gasp! what?
You see, if God gave us only what we could handle then we wouldn’t need Him at all! Which that is SO not true…we DO NEED God!
He comes in and sweeps us up, our hot mess and all, and provides for us…He steps in when we are hanging by a thread, He carries us through those hard moments. All we have to do is say, “Take me, Save me, Use me, and Work through me Lord”. Just surrender to Him tonight…if you don’t know Christ as your Savior…then there IS hope…He is here to carry you through your days, you can’t but He CAN! And if you already have a personal relationship with Christ…then don’t forget to let Him lead you…I am totally talking about myself too! He will take your HOT MESS and make it beautiful!
……………………………..
So tonight as I sit here in my chaos I like to call life, I am rejoicing in the fact that I am a HOT MESS! I don’t know that I’d want to meet my polar opposite….she probably isn’t that great anyways. I am Unbreakable…but only with Christ
I have the Lord working through me…and I am the first to be thankful for that!
Here’s something for you…may be a great bumper sticker! 😉
I’m a
HOT MESS
and lovin’ it!

I’m going to give you a dose of your own accusatory medicine… Are you pregnant? You love to dish out that question, so in light of this post, I thought it was appropriate to ask.
And I agree, God does give us more than we think we can handle all the time. It’s why we cry and beg him to take it away. But he always brings us through to the other side… even if it’s not the way we would have chosen to get to the other side. Thanks for that reminder. I needed it right now. 🙂
Oh Haley…I get that question EVERY day from my parents…and the answer is …no…or at least I don’t think so! 😉
Wow, if you are describing a HOT mess, then I must be a FIRE mess! I have these days all the time. Great reminder about God’s faithfulness in our weakest hours.
Maybe I am old, but I don’t have a clue what hot mess means. Totally confusing…lol. However, I agree 100% about God giving us more than we can handle (obviously, since we were the ones talking about it ;)). Thanks for the reminder and the chit chat about it the other day.
I love your posting! God absolutely gives us more than we can handle but he never gives us more than He can handle – if we only let Him! I don’t know why that is so hard – but I can tell you that it is!
