Hello everyone, this is not Brittany as you will most definitely know by my bad grammar and spelling which is very uncharacteristic of my wife. So now that i have taken over the post, and i am sure this will not stay on long, i wanted to post a question- who spends more time on the computer than: with God, with Family, cleaning, praying….. Hopefully no one but it is a question that was raised to me in class and i wondered your view. Has Facebook and these blogs become the new voyeur movement- i define voyeur as someone gaining personal information about someone without the personal contact or permission from the person. I know it is kind of a had thing to think about but what do you all think. Are we all peeping toms who are spying on our neighbor and stealing time away from our walks with God. Maybe this wont change your life, or even effect you in any way but i do hope that at least this post will plant the seed in your mind about how much you are putting into the internet and computer combined.

Interesting points, Sam. And yes, it is easy to “spy” on people and see what they are doing via the internet (blogs, facebook, myspace, etc). I guess if the info is out there we all know that people are looking at it…but I do understand what you are saying.
I have struggled with keeping my internet time to a minimum. I no longer turn it on until kids are napping and I’ve spent time with the Lord. I think there are a lot of things that could come before out time with the Lord…television, computers, video games, talking on the phone, etc. I don’t think it is just a problem with people online. There are many things in life that distract us from our families and walk with God.
Just my two cents. 😉

Sam,
I do believe in the lives of many people, the internet is becoming a venue that the enemey is using to his advantage- a great distraction for Christians in their walk with God. It is easy to get absorbed into the world of blogs, email, myspace, ect. The way I guard against that is to set myself with a specific purpose when I sit in front of the computer. In other words, I have a time limit…and it is VERY short!
Without guards, it is easy to get absorbed into the world of the internet, and lose focus on the things we should be doing- whether that be jobs, taking care of kids, ect. As Christians we must be cautious not to allow ourselves to be absorbed into anything that causes us to mindlessly wander about…even if that wondering is on the keyboard. -
Great point ladies…about exactly what I talked to Sam about when he came home from class asking me that question!…scary he was able to get on here and post…who knows what he’ll say net time! 😉

Sam, you’re the man. Very sneaky and you’re totally right. Blogging can become very consuming. Women should ask and be obedient to their own husbands in regard to how they spend their time.
Brittany, Re: your question on Mckmama’s blog, when you’re right you’re right and no matter what people say you are obeying God in regards to your family. You are living countercultural and that’s going to rub people the wrong way and they will speak against it. Enjoy your children! Smile and bless your naysayers.
Having so many children that people can’t resist to comment is a good problem to have.
