As we are heading full swing into summer I’m planning our summer travel adventures. But one of my least favorite parts of traveling, other than whiny children, is the limited food options to eat fresh on the go. While some of the fast food chains can be tasty at times, they can get real old real fast. Plus my crazy group always thinks they need to get out of the car every stop we make, which can extend our trip greatly. The other week I heard of a gas station chain adding in many fresh food options that make eating healthy on the go easy!
Fresh foods are a priority for 7-Eleven as they continue to fulfill the customer’s needs while on the go. It’s good to know they see customers are looking for healthier fresh food items to fuel their day as well as the more indulgent items they love. These foods are prepared in local kitchens and delivered to stores daily ensuring premium quality products for shoppers. Right now their fresh food line includes: Fresh sandwiches, Salads, Fresh cut fruit, Whole fruit, Yoplait Yogurt, Parfait with oats and honey granola, and Bistro Snack packs with mini pitas, cheddar cheese cubes, red grapes, celery, baby carrots and hummus.
These fresh food options at 7-Eleven are a step in the right direction for me! And it seems like customers agree as well. I was excitedly surprised to see how this line has taken off with stats like this; 170,437 sandwiches sold each day, 71 million bananas sold each year, 13.3 million apples sold each year, 13.6 million fruit cups sold each year, and 2.8 million yogurt parfaits sold each year. People want easy healthy options on the go and I’m glad 7-Eleven wants to help indulge us in that.
So now as we travel this summer we will have a one stop shop for gas and food. And good healthy food at that. Plus I’m hoping this cuts down on our travel time as well- with 7 kids maybe that’s just wishful thinking!
