Thank you mama

Last night in Fort Worth there was a pretty big storm. So when Sam woke up this morning he discovered that our electricity was out! Not fun…so we called the electric company and they said that they would have it back on at 3:00. That wasn’t the best result, so I called my parents and they said I could come to their house for the day…seeing as my son has been sick for the past week and all he has wanted to do is sit on the couch and watch Nemo, Little Einsteins, etc. (I know that tv isn’t the best thing for a child, but I was trying anything to keep him happy and his mind off of being sick.) Plus I couldn’t cook any food for us to eat…things you take forget about needing electricity for! So I waited until Ethan woke up, took his temp and it was 102…better than before but we weren’t out of the clear. I packed up stuff for the day and went to my parent’s house.
On the way there I told him we were going to see GPops (my dad) and the whole way over all he would say was, “EPops, EPops!!”. As soon as we walked in the door he acted just fine for GPops…it was like he wasn’t sick at all. He still acts sick at times, but other than the fever he is pretty much back to normal…which excites me!!! Now I just hope that tomorrow the temp will be gone.
Oh!!!…back to the electricity…Sam called me when he got home form work and told me that our power was STILL out! Can you believe it? I had a bad feeling about it this morning…and I guess I was right. So now we will be shacked up at my parent’s house for the night!
Thank the Lord for my family!
Also please pray that Ethan will continue to get better!

Explain Natural…?

I have had a few questions asking what I mean about “living more natural”. Let me explain…
Sam and I decided to make changes in our lives to benefit us and the environment…it so happens that these changes are natural ones. We are always examining how we do things to see if we can make improvements.
Here are a few so you understand:
*we use cloth diapers on our son…and will continue to do so with Titus
*Ethan and I both wear amber necklaces…his is for teething and mine is for headaches (you will be surprised to know that amber necklaces are sold in pharmacies in Europe!)
*we try to buy organic products including food…we still have a lot of room to grow on the food side of things though! 😉
*I plan on laboring and delivering Titus in the water…and hopefully our next at home!
* Sam and I belive in co-sleeping (baby sleeping in the parent’s bed), breast feeding, baby wearing (wearing our child in a carrier)…etc.
*we try not to jump on everything medical…but try to look for the more homiopathic (natural) way
My sister Shawnda jokingly said once that I was a modern amish…because I like technology for the most part, but everything else I don’t. The funny thing is I took that for a compliment. So I found a picture which I think is so us!

Just another update on Ethan…I had hoped that he would wake up this morning and be better, but when he finally woke up at noon he had a temp of 103.6. So it looks like we aren’t out of the clear yet. I put a picture of what Ethan has been doing for the last couple of days…well when he isn’t glued to me of course.

Trying new things!

Since everyone I know has a blog, I figured maybe I should join in too. I spend some time reading about their lives…so why should I deprive them of the great pleasure of mine…HA HA! Anyway this is definitely a work in progress, so don’t be shocked if things change from day to day!

Now on to the important stuff: family.

Ethan has been sick…and sick like he has never before. All of his other times were for ear infections, which is another story intirely, but this I knew had to be different because he had a 104 temp!! Can you believe it…all my poor baby did was cry and lay in my lap…for two days straight. I took him to the doctor to only find out that he probably has the flu (in April) which the doctor says there have been some isolated cases of recently. We went the whole flu season without it, but right when everyone thought they could be free from the yucky bug…my son gets it! I only pray that Sam and I can steer clear from it. Anyway the doctor said he should be on the end of it and back to normal by Thursday…I have my fingers crossed. I love staying at home with him, but not under these circumstances…I feel so helpless…especially when he looks at me and says, “Mommy, Mommy!” like he wants me to fix it…oh how I wish I could!

So pray for us…all of us, because if I get sick it could be really bad. I tend to have a weaker immune system while pregnant which isn’t convenient.
