I’ve partnered with intelliBed and super excited to share my own opinion.
It seems that no matter where you turn there are magic pills, tasty shakes, and wonder food diets to help you shed those dreaded pounds. They all sound fantastic at first, I must admit, it’s easy to be swept away by the romantic notions of eating all the cheeseburgers I want and popping a diet pill to solve all my cellulite problems. But that just isn’t the answer. Thankfully it seems most people are realizing the importances of a healthy diet combined with exercise is the right answer. Yes this life style change is a step in the right direction, but what if I told you that you still were missing one MAJOR fact in this equation. One that could greatly help or hinder your weight loss efforts. It’s the secret diet ingredient. Do I have you intrigued?!
Sleep. It sounds pretty simple right, but that’s one of the first things to go with our booming, busy lives these days. Sure we will eat only the healthiest of foods and of course we’ll spend our hour at the gym, but our lives are so packed we have to sacrifice our precious sleep to fit everything in. In fact, did you know that you would die of sleep deprivation before starvation? Yep, it takes 2 weeks to starve to death, but you’re a goner in only 10 days without sleep. Yikes! Is sleep REALLY that important?! Well when researchers from Hospital University of Pennsylvania’s Sleep and Chronobiology Laboratory deprived subjects of two hours of sleep the results were scary. At two weeks in they thought they had adjusted to the fewer hours, but they demonstrated impaired cognition that was equal to being drunk. And there ain’t nothing healthy about walking around functioning “drunk” all day, ha!
So how does your diet stack up against sleep? Sure you can toss in a few extra fruits and veggies for the day, but that doesn’t make up for your loss of sleep. In fact, lack of sleep has been connected to a variety of health issues, including:
- depression, mood disorders
- weight gain
- heart disease
- hormonal problems
- impaired immune function
You saw that right, WEIGHT GAIN! Might as well go out and eat that cheeseburger and gain weight that way, because you’re doing your body the same injustice by depriving yourself of sleep. Even scarier are these sleep deprivation risk factors:
Make Sleep a Priority
- Don’t fall victim to the productivity myth and assume that losing an hour of sleep to fit in more work/exercise is actually helpful.
- Take care of you and set a firm bed time for yourself. Whether you are done with your project or not, stop, drop, and
rollgo to bed, ha! Sam and I have started this at our house, because he’s noticed my lack of positivity (ha!) on days after I’ve lost sleep. This gal requires TONS of sleep and I take that seriously…sleepy heads unite!
- Get a good mattress. I shared with you in my last post about all the research I put into buying a new mattress. Well a couple of months in and I am IN LOVE! I’ll be honest and tell you that I was a little skeptical at first, I mean because a mattress is a BIG deal. But with the 60 money back guarantee that intelliBED has and their less than 1% return rate (WHAT?!?!), I thought why not!
Clearly y’all are fed up with your lack of sleep or poor quality of sleep because I’ve gotten emails, texts, and comments asking me more about my new mattress. Because of this I plan to share more about the research I’ve found to help you sleep better as well as a FREE webinar with experts on the subject. I CANNOT tell you how much of a game changer this mattress is for me! I would bring each one of you into my bedroom and let you lay on it so you can SEE how amazing it really is. But since that is a little creepy and weird (or so I’m told, ha!) maybe now is the perfect time to try a intelliBED mattress risk free for 60 days?! AND the company is so great to offer you 10% off RIGHT NOW when you sign up here. Y’all that’s HUGE!
How many hours of sleep do you get a night?!
