Eating in our household is almost an Olympic sport. I kid you not, these kids can put down some food! The biggest struggle here is trying to keep kids from eating all of the fruits and vegetables. I know that sounds like I’m bragging (and I totally am), but I swear to you, the moment we bring home fresh produce our kids flock to the kitchen like a moth to a flame. They hover around the counter begging for an apple, carrot, or whatever this week’s shopping trip bounty is. The only thing they love more than this is ice cream…and sometimes they ask to combine the two. Sweet Mary and Joseph cucumber/rocky road ice cream sounds nasty. So in an effort to keep my sanity and try something new, while maintaining my mom-of-the-year status (because that’s all that matters, ha!), we tried the new Outshine Fruit & Veggie Bars. I’m a firm believer in healthy snacks for healthy kids and this sound like a great idea!
Can I just be honest with you for a second? I was a little worried about how these suckers would taste. I mean I am SO not a fan of some of the fruit/veggie mixed orangey-red drinks out there and I wondered if these would just be the frozen version of that. No thanks, I’ll just stick with the cucumbered rocky road nastiness. With that said, like any good mom, I let my kids try the bars out first. I wasn’t about to ruin these finely tuned tastebuds, ha! To my relief the kids LOVED them, the combination of their love for fruity goodness and all things frozen, this was a BIG win.
There was only one thing left for me to do. Try them for myself. And y’all they were ACTUALLY good! I must say, the tangerine-carrot flavor is my favorite (which I found out is an excellent source of Vitamins A and K)! Who would have thought?! Then I just had to see HOW good they were for us. They are made from a blend of fruit and vegetable purees and juices, with each bar containing at least 25% vegetables, an excellent source of Vitamin C, and no high fructose corn syrup. PLUS they are full of real fruit, fruit juice, veggies, refreshing coconut water, and they are gluten free.
Can I get an Amen?!
It didn’t take us long before we polished off the couple boxes we had at home. And now the kids are begging for more. Yes, I’ll take that as a parenting success. Our next trip to the store will definitely consist of more Outshine Fruit & Veggie bars, but maybe we’ll try the Apple and Greens and Peach Mango Medley!
Would you add these bars to your kid’s snacking routine?
Have you tried them before, like them?!

These look delicious! I’m excited for the kids to try them, yes, but I’m mostly excited to get them for myself! 😉 How’s THAT for mom of the year status. Haha!
