Last week I had the pleasure of heading back to good ole Dallas/Fort Worth for my sister’s bridal shower and while there I had the opportunity to attend a fun AND yummy California Raisins party. It was SO great to see old blogging buddies as well as learn more about quick, healthy snacks for our kiddos, especially since it’s back to school time!
We learned that California Raisins come by their sweetness naturally. In fact, the nutrition label tells a great story: Zero fat, no cholesterol and no added sugar. Plus, raisins offer 9% of your daily fiber and potassium, and 6% of your daily iron. I like the sound of that! And who doesn’t love a great, healthy snack that has convenient and portable packaging so I can toss them in lunches or my purse for on the go treats?! My kids LOVE raisins and beg for them when we are shopping at the store. So it was NO surprise to me that I could NOT keep them away from the food table, ha!
Well that and the coloring table. There were cute tiny tables loaded with crayons and raisin coloring sheets. Penelope had a BLAST drawing “raisins” on each page instead of actually coloring the pictures. That girl, ha!
But what made our party incredible was our celebrity guest! He came all the way out to Dallas to meet us and even agreed to take pictures!
The kids were completely star struck…or petrified. The emotions were pretty evenly split. But after leaving the party I was inspired. You see I really am not that creative when it comes to raisin snacks with my kids. I just had them the packages and call it good, ha! But after seeing all the fun food at the party I was on a mission to change that! And because I figured many of you are like me, I’ve made a fun pinterest board full of healthy, easy on the go snacks for you and your little ones. Great for back to school time too! So go check it out!
