Easy DIY Fabric Pumpkins

This past weekend I taught a class at our for our first EVER Pinterest party! We all had a blast, and everyone loved their crafts. In case you decided your house needs a tad more fall decorations I have the PERFECT, EASY craft! I originally saw the idea from this blog, but then we took the idea and ran with it at the party!

How fun are all these fabrics?!?!
These pumpkins are SUPER easy to make and you don’t even need a sewing machine!
Can you hear the angels singing the Hallelujah chorus now?!
Here’s what you’ll need:
*fabric (any colors/kind your heart desires!)
*needles (small sewing needle, then a large embroidery needle)
Measure your fabric then cut it out.
You want the length of your fabric to be double the height. (i.e. 5×10, 10×20)
So you can make them any size you’d like!
I used these measurements: 5×10, 8×16, 11×22, 14×28, 17×34
Fold the fabric in half fat ways with the pretty side facing in.
Then stitch up the side and tie off.
Next stitch up the bottom…
…then cinch the bottom tight and tie off.
Turn the fabric inside out and stitch around the top and leave the thread/needle attached.
(do not stitch it closed)
Stuff your pumpkin full.
Then cinch the opening closed and tie off.
Cut a long strip of yarn and knot the end and thread your large embroidery needle with the yarn.
1. push the needle/yard through the center of the bottom and pull all the way through the top center.
2. Take your needle/yarn down and back through the bottom, then pull up through the top again.
3. Do this 5 times (up through the bottom, through the top, then back down through the bottom and through the top)
4. Tighten yarn to create nice “lumps” for the pumpkin and tie off the yarn!
Cut a strip of fabric for the stem. Size will differ depending on the size of your pumpkin.
Fold in half long ways with pretty sides facing in.
Stitch along the two side and tie off. Leave bottom open.
Then stuff the stem and stitch closed.
Lastly (you’re almost done, yay!), stitch stem to the top (center) of your pumpkin!
And enjoy!
Now you can go crazy and make as many as your pretty little heart desires!
